About

Paul Hobrough (United Kingdom) is a sports physiotherapist, researcher and international educator specialising in shockwave therapy, athlete recovery and performance.

A former Great Britain international athlete, Paul represented GB in sprint and marathon kayaking for 16 years before building a career in elite sports medicine. He has worked with Olympic and world-class athletes and now combines more than 25 years of clinical experience with research into new applications of radial shockwave therapy in healthy athletes.

His doctoral research at Northumbria University has focused on whether radial shockwave can enhance recovery following intense exercise and during congested competition. His latest research, conducted with male and female basketball players during an international tournament, demonstrated reduced muscle soreness and improved perceived recovery following post-game radial shockwave treatment.

Paul is an international speaker and educator in shockwave therapy and works with clinicians and performance teams (knicks, Spurs, Heat, OKC, Premier league soccer, NFL and NHL), translating emerging research into practical recovery strategies for elite sport.
