About

Jim Cooper is a mechanical engineer, world-class distance runner, and inventor of

the DorsiFLEX — a patented physical therapy device designed for the treatment and

prevention of plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon problems, and lower leg

conditions. A competitive runner during the 1980s and early 1990s, Jim developed

the original concept after personally battling bilateral plantar fasciitis and

discovering that variably inclining the toes — rather than standard wall leans or

heel drops — produced immediate relief.

He first received a patent for his initial foot stretching device in 1992, and

later collaborated with Steve Sims and Cameron Bell to develop the refined

DorsiFLEX, patented in 2016. The device allows practitioners and athletes to

variably and selectively position the foot in neutral, everted, or inverted

positions while performing targeted stretching and strengthening exercises — a

level of precision not achievable with conventional tools. DorsiFLEX is now used

by healthcare professionals and athletes worldwide.
